Body Mind Society

This project is about Young Women looking at body image, health and self esteem.

All around us we see super thin super models, magazines full of diets, adverts for plastic surgery, make up and every kind of beauty product to change and supposedly 'improve' the way we look.

The message seems to say if you want to be happy, accepted and successful you need to look like the models.

More young women want plastic surgery, many develop eating disorders and many experience depression because they fail to fulfil these unrealistic expectations.

At Malory school a group of young women are going to decide for themselves what they think are the important things around body image, self esteem and health.
Through a range of media they will work together using their skills, knowledge and creativity to do something positive to counteract the negative images put forward through the media.

Sure Start Plus

Young parents across the borough and agencies that work with and support young parents are being contacted so that consultation meetings with young parents can take place.

The young people's experience of a range of health and support services will be sought so that their views will shape future provision for young parents. The anonymity of all young people will be protected.

This work will take place over 12 weeks and the final report will be used in the development of a work plan for both Teenage Pregnancy, Parenthood and Sexual Health Strategy as well as for the Sure Start work plan.
If you are a young parent who would like to give your opinion please get in touch.
